And so, the Summer Solstice (Litha) has come, and almost gone as we write. It has been a lovely day this year, and Sol has been seen in all his glory – master of a mostly blue sky and largely unhindered by the clouds that sought at times to conceal him.
Now the waxing crescent moon is accompanied by Venus in the western sky (see picture) and Sol has marched on to illuminate the Americas and Pacific. So, it’s time to relax, take some wine and reflect on the day, the month and even half the year!
It is no easy thing setting up an online store; we thought it would be far simpler than it has turned out to be! Ah well, all things worthwhile come with some pain! We must carry on… as Epictetus teaches us:
“Nothing great is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig. If you tell me that you desire a fig, I answer you that there must be time. Let it first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen.”
[Epictetus — The Enchiridion]
So, as Epictetus advises, we shall press on and tomorrow try to fix the issues that still oppress us. In the meantime, we wish a sacred blessing on all who take time to read this, whether today or at some point in the future. Pax Vobiscum.
